 This blog welcomes all past, present and future Aveson Charter school gardeners to share their experiences, thoughts and challenges.

Members of our  school gardening projects will write articles, and post gardening tricks and tips for instructional use. If you have any interest in sustainable gardening, experience or are eager to dig in your contributions and time are greatly appreciated.

The garden team is looking for volunteers who can assist with campus projects. If you have a passion for  healthy living education please consider joining us!

  • Create  mixed succulent and edibles gardens on the slope behind classes B1 and B2 as well as the area in front
  • Plant a native pollinators garden in the “natural space” between the bungalow and the ramp going down to the field as part of a Home Studies project
  • Obtain a Woolly Pockets garden kit to help expand the garden’s ability to provide ingredients for culinary arts

  • Create a second raised box garden in the lower grove to help increase crop yield for the lunch program
  • Organize “painless fundraisers”
  • Maintain the upper garden and finish installation of :

Wall anchors to trellis grape vines

Fence to separate play yard from grove

Mount a chalkboard on the side of Flex room for outdoor classroom

Obtain and erect a tool shed and greenhouse
